Halal-Friendly Supplements: A 2026 Buyer's Guide for Singapore and Malaysia

The supplement aisle is a minefield for halal-conscious shoppers. Capsule shells, gelatin sources, alcohol-based extractions — none of it is on the front label. Here's a practical framework.

The three halal-status tiers

  1. Halal-certified — carries an active certification from a recognised body (JAKIM in Malaysia, MUIS in Singapore). The strongest claim.
  2. Halal-friendly / suitable for halal diets — formulation contains no haram ingredients (no pork-derived gelatin, no animal-source enzymes, no alcohol carriers). Not formally certified, but compatible.
  3. Not halal-suitable — typically contains bovine gelatin (which may not be halal-slaughtered), pork by-products, or alcohol-extracted botanicals.

What to check on every supplement label

  • Capsule type: HPMC (vegetable cellulose) and gelatin-free are halal-suitable. Standard gelatin capsules need certification to confirm source.
  • Carriers: glycerol can be plant or animal sourced. Look for "vegetable glycerol."
  • Flavours and colours: alcohol-based extractions are common in liquid supplements.
  • Marine sources: fish-derived ingredients (collagen, omega-3) are typically halal-suitable; check farming method for ethical compatibility.

NTX brands and halal compatibility

Important note: We do not currently hold formal JAKIM or MUIS certification on our products. The information below describes ingredient suitability, not certification status.

  • BEE+ Manuka Honey UMF15+ — pure honey, naturally halal-suitable.
  • eimele Reds, Reds Max, Shield Greens, Shine Greens — plant-based superblends, no animal-derived ingredients.
  • Vida Glow Marine Collagen, Pro Collagen+, Hairology, Radiance+ — fish-source collagen, no haram ingredients in standard formulations.
  • Triple ProBio Sanitary range — non-ingestible products; halal status applies differently and is generally not a concern for these categories.

What's typically excluded

Some collagen sources, some probiotic encapsulations, and some traditional Chinese herbal extracts use bovine gelatin or alcohol carriers. We disclose ingredient lists in full on each product page so you can verify.

Frequently asked questions

Is fish collagen halal? Generally yes. Fish are considered halal in most jurisdictions without specific slaughter requirements.

Does halal compatibility affect potency? No. Halal-friendly formulations work identically — the difference is purely in source ingredients.

What if I'm strict about certification? Look for products carrying an active certification mark. We're transparent that not all our SKUs carry formal certification yet.
